Worship & Formation
  • Meeting weekly for worship in Aurora since May 2009
  • Communal Bible study during worship on themes of God's vision for the beloved community, justice for workers, and justice for immigrants; studied Exodus story following lectionary in 2008
  • Prayer and support; Communion every week

Community Care
  • Share meals together about once a month

Justice & Solidarity
  • Water for Workers Project
    • Bringing water to the Aurora immigrant workers each week as they wait for work
    • Labor Day meal for the workers
    • Assist in connecting workers who've experienced wage theft with labor lawyers
  • Advocacy and Accompaniment Project
    • Interfaith Worker Justice Committee – local, regional, and national involvement on workers' rights and economic justice issues
    • Participate in monthly vigils at the ICE Detention facility in Aurora; participation has included helping to plan vigils, writing reflections, leading prayers, and presence.
    • Courtroom solidarity with immigrants – pastoral presence as well as helping "interpret" what is happening and how to maneuver through the process
    • Member, Detention Visitation Leadership Team

    • Member of the Transform columbus day Alliance
    • Planning team member, America United for Immigration Reform public forum, Sept. 19, 2009
    • Pastor and members gave testimony at an Aurora City Council meeting regarding immigrant worker rights
    • Pastor writes on immigration issues for Sojourners' "God's Politics" blog and Christians for Comprehensive Immigration Reform
    • Pastor spoke on the Bible and Immigration for Spanish-language community radio
